Pretty in Pastels

It's nearly a new season, which means exciting new trends are just over the horizon! Luckily for you, at Collection 2000 we've got our finger on the pulse and are ready to guide you through what's going to be hot in Spring 2012!

Colourblocking has been all over the catwalks for a while now, but using pastels in combination with more 'feminine' fabrics like lace, fake fur, satin and chiffon will be the hot new trend for this spring. Pale yellow and orange, cotton candy pink, lavender and subtle blues were seen again and again in spring collections from Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, Tibi and Christian Siriano, while even Ralph Lauren's floral prints stuck to the same colour palette.

Though the catwalk looks were all based around classic cuts - think glam flapper dresses girls - there's another more everyday-wearable alternative: light pastel flares. Katy Perry, Rachel Bilson and Cameron Diaz have all been spotted out-and-about in pastel denim, so you can safely join those fab fashionistas if the high fashion look isn't for you.

So this spring wear a colour block or floral print, and pair it with metallics - like Collection 2000's Metallic Cream Eyeshadows - for effect. Not a fan of metallics? Bold eyes are always a good contrast, so experiment with Colour Intense Solo Eye Shadow for an additional pop of colour, or complement the pastels with a slick of candy pink lipstick, try Lasting Colour Lipstick in Bubblegum.
